Music in other products: the new collabo era

As traditional recorded music sales continue to fall, it’s interesting to watch the talent and entrepreneurial mindset that musicians apply to the collaborations that are increasingly important to their making a living. Brian Hracs is doing some great research on this.

Perennial metal also-rans Anvil are a great example. The recent documentary about their epic 30-year career has led to live performances around the world, and now they’ve been asked to record songs for the next edition of the Rock Band video game. Perhaps next they’ll follow in the footsteps of hip hop label Stones Throw and introduce their own specialty coffee. . .
